adventure awaits.

Earlier I mentioned my new adventure guide that I received as a gift, and today I am excited to share one of the bullets I did.

Adventurous Speaking: "Talk with at least one other different major than those listed and ask why they are studying that particular field. Write about it."

I have met Jenni and seen her a couple of times through the BCM on campus. She is so sweet and I love that you can just see the joy beam out of her when she talks. From my few conversations with her I can see that she has a heart for the Lord and for others; she truly loves God and loves others. Also, she has a tender heart that isn't just in her speech, but her actions.

Today she I sat with her and Kerrie in the campus Starbucks Lounge, she had just given her headphones to an international student who was video-chatting and had apparent trouble hearing. Later the girl thanked Jenni, who promptly asked her name, how she was doing, and where she was from. (She was a freshman from Japan.) Then Jenni invited her to a Valentine's party for international students on the 7th. The girl immediately said she would go, and I don't doubt it.

Jenni's heart for internationals in particular was so refreshing to see. I expressed how I am impressed with students who come to college in America to pursue majors (usually pretty difficult majors), learn English, and deal with social and cultural barriers. I cannot imagine how smart one would be and how stressful daily occurrences can be!

Jenni wishes she can become bilingual in Spanish. She is studying abroad this summer, but wants to do more (a whole semester). I asked what she wants to do with her double major, and she mentioned missions. Which I can totally see her doing! I can imagine social work knowledge will also help in that endeavor. Also, she mentioned how if/when she comes back to the US, she won't be able to idly stand by, and social work is so versatile it would be fitting.

To say I am impressed, not just with her ambition, but her heart, would be putting it lightly. I am sure that God is moving and will use her. It's also encouraging to see that these days, many realize there is so much more to life.

This verse has been on my mind quite a bit recently. "Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6 Blessings, Grace Mae
